Lesson 1 of 13 · 3 min
Ports on the Zen: A1, CONSOLE and PROG
Goal: Know which of the three USB ports does what before you plug anything in.
Most first-day problems are a cable in the wrong port. The Zen has three ports and each one has exactly one job. Learn them now and the rest of the course is easier.
Steps
Find A1 on the front
The USB port on the front of the Zen is A1. Your controller plugs in here. Nothing else ever goes in A1. If the controller is anywhere else, the yew2K mod menu will not open.
Find CONSOLE on the back
The rear port labelled CONSOLE goes to the machine you play on: PS5, Xbox or PC. The Zen sits between your controller and the console, and this is the console side.
Find PROG on the back
The rear port labelled PROG is for programming. It connects to the PC that runs Zen Studio Live and the firmware updater. When you play, you can leave it unplugged.
Say it back
Controller → A1. Console → CONSOLE. Programming PC → PROG. Do not plug anything in yet; Lesson 2 starts with the PROG cable.
| Port | Where it is | What plugs in |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Front | Your controller |
| CONSOLE | Back | PS5 / Xbox / PC you play on |
| PROG | Back | PC running Zen Studio Live or the firmware updater |
Cable types and which specific cables ship in the box are not covered here. Check guide.cronuszen.com for the hardware specifics of your Zen revision.
Check: how you know it worked
- You can point at each port and name what plugs into it without looking at the table.
- Nothing is connected yet.
Didn’t work? Controller not detected in A1
