Connect the Zen to a PC

Goal: Play on PC through the CONSOLE port, and keep PROG for programming only.

On PC the two rear ports are easy to mix up because both go to a computer. They still have different jobs.

Steps

  1. CONSOLE → PC

Run a USB cable from the Zen's rear CONSOLE port to the PC you play on. This is the port that carries your controller input into the game.

  2. PROG stays for programming

The PROG port is only for Zen Studio Live and the firmware updater. If you also want Zen Studio Live open while playing on the same PC, that is a second cable into PROG; it does not replace CONSOLE.

  3. Controller → A1

Plug the controller into the front A1 port. How the PC sees the Zen (which controller type it emulates, driver notes) is on guide.cronuszen.com.

  4. Pick the slot

Select the slot with the Zen's button. The OLED shows the script name.

Check: how you know it worked

  • The OLED shows the script name.
  • The PC sees controller input through the Zen.

Didn’t work? OLED shows the Gearhead logo · Controller not detected in A1
