Lesson 13 of 13

Lesson 13 of 13 · 15 min

First tuning session

Goal: Dial in Auto-Green and Button Rhythm in online MyCourt using one rule: early → raise the value, late → lower it.

Test online. Offline MyCourt timing differs from online, so values you find offline will not hold in Rec. Every value below is adjusted with Cross/A held + Up/Down on its menu page.

Auto-Green is not a guarantee. yew's framing: "It is not going to work in 100% of situations; good values should have you at ~70% with auto-green."

Steps

  1. Load into online MyCourt

Settings from Lesson 12 done. Stand at a spot you can repeat.

  2. Turn Auto-Green on

Open the menu (L2/LT + Options/Menu), D-pad Right twice to Auto-Green, D-pad Up to On. The value range is 300–900 ms in 5 ms steps. The Standstill default is 660; yew runs 710. Leave the default for the first shots.

  3. Fire it correctly

Stand still with the right stick centred, then click R3 (press the stick like a button, do not flick it). The script holds Square for the value's ms and releases with the stick neutral. Press X/A to bail a running shot. If you set SQ Remap to R3, the Auto-Green click is L3 instead.

  4. Read the feedback and move the value

Early → raise the value. Late → lower the value. Hold Cross/A and tap Up or Down on the Auto-Green page. Change a little, shoot several, repeat. This rule applies to every auto-green page (fades, Catch Shoot, Step Back, Quick Stop).

  5. Stop when most shots green

Around 70% is what good values look like. Chasing 100% by moving the value every miss makes it worse. Values save automatically when you release L2/LT.

  6. Try Button Rhythm

D-pad Left to Button Rhythm, Up to On. Range 8–80 ms, centre 35; yew runs 23. It turns your Square press into a rhythm shot: the stick is pulled down on press and flicked up on release, and the ms value is how long that upward flick lasts. It does not time the shot; it widens the green window, reduces the contest penalty and improves consistency. There is no formula: try fades and stand-stills at a few values and keep what feels best.

  7. Check what else is on

Insta-Stop can cancel fades; set it Off while you test fades, or use Left-Trigger mode so it only fires while L2/LT is held. Auto Tempo only affects right-stick shots; button shooters leave it Off. Defense Assist On and Infinite Stamina On are fine to leave as yew runs them.

  8. If you still brick, fix the jumpshot

With sensible values, the jumpshot is almost always the problem. Fast, straight releases give the widest windows: bases Oscar Robertson, Steph Curry or Damian Lillard; releases Oscar/Oscar or Curry/Curry; speed max; blend 50/50 if mixing. Avoid slow bases like Kobe or MJ, big wind-ups and hitchy animations. Prioritise shooting attributes (90+ three) over dunk packages.

Patch day: re-run the Generator on yew.gg, load the new build, then validate timings in online MyCourt first and Rec second. Updates ship weekly.

Questions about a specific value belong in the yew Discord at yew.gg/discord.

Check: how you know it worked

  • Standing R3 clicks green most of the time in online MyCourt, and moving the value shifts the feedback the way the rule predicts.
  • You closed the menu and the value is still there when you reopen it.
